An anchor tag is five words of HTML and a dozen small decisions — target, rel, safe noopener settings — that are easy to get subtly wrong. What does rel="noopener" do?
It stops the opened page from accessing your page via the window.opener API — a small but real security win whenever you send visitors to a site you do not control. The generator adds it automatically to new-tab links.
Should external links open in a new tab?
For business sites, yes for anything that would leave your funnel (partners, references, socials) and no for your own pages. Keep visitors oriented; let the browser's back button do its job inside your site.
When do I need rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow"?
Sponsored: anywhere money or a free product changes hands for the link — affiliate and partner links included. Nofollow: user-generated content you do not vouch for. Google announced both in 2019 and treats them as hints today.
